The automotive sector in Australia is gearing up for an exciting year in 2025, with a lineup of cutting-edge vehicles set to hit the roads.
From new brands making their Australian debut and electric innovations to next-generation SUVs and stylish sedans, the new arrivals promise to cater to every driver’s needs and preferences. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast seeking advanced features or an eco-conscious motorist exploring sustainable options, the 2025 offerings bring something for everyone.
Let’s dive into the new cars making their debut in Australia this year that we’re most excited about!
Cadillac Lyriq
Cadallac is making its much anticipated return to Australia with the Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV.
Arriving now, the mid-sized five-seater SUV features a 388kW dual-motor powertrain and 102kWh battery pack with a claimed 530km range (WLTP), with its right-hand drive built in at GM’s Tennessee factor, rather than converted onshore.
It comes ahead of the release of the performance variant of the Lyriq – the Lyriq-V – which is due in Australia in 2026.
Kia Tasman
Hotly anticipated in 2025 is Kia’s first ute and rival for the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger – the Kia Tasman. It’s expected in Australia in mid-2025, following its launch in Kia’s home market of South Korea.
The Tasman will come in three variants – a base model, the Tasman X-Line and an off-road-focused Tasman X-Pro.
Audi Q6 e-tron
Arriving early this year is the Audi Q6 e-tron; a mid-size, all electric SUV that is sure to be a popular choice with families.
While Audi already has a strong pedigree in the electric vehicle market, the Q6 e-tron comes with a 100kWh battery pack, enabling a driving range of 641km on a single charge.
Hyundai Inster
Another early year release is the Hyundai Inster – a new entrant into the affordable electric car market.
With a 49kWh battery pack, allowing for a driving range of 355km on a single car, the Inster will be a good option for drivers looking for a city commuter.
BMW M5 Touring
Fourteen years after it was last available, the BMW M5 Touring is back. In this iteration, BMW has envisioned the M5 Touring as a twin-turbocharged plug-in hybrid with a v8 powertrain.
Production is kicking off in January with the M5 Touring expected in Australia in the first quarter of the year.
Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5
Volkswagen is kicking off 2025 with a bang, with the launch of its two electric vehicles – the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 – set to arrive in Australia in March.
Both are mid-size battery-electric SUVs, with the ID.5 providing greater storage and space in a coupe-styled design.
The Australian launch will also benefit from upgrades announced in Europe with more powerful electric motors, interior technology and driving ranges.
